Wedding Trend Alert: Mix & Match Bridesmaids Dresses

Slowly the days of matching bridesmaids dresses are fading. Many brides are showing how being unique can be oh-so chic. Whether you’re mixing patterns and solids, going ombré or choosing a different style dress for each lady, going the non-traditional route for your bridal party is the newest in wedding trends. Your wedding party is basically the backdrop for extraordinary photos, so why not get creative?

We are loving the idea of a different style dress for each bridesmaid, simply because not everyone has the same body type. Although, you can certainly find a dress that will cover every body, it doesn't necessarily mean it will look good on every body. You want your girls feeling as confident as you are on your big day, and this is the perfect way to do just that!

Another trend we are seeing is highlighting the Maid of Honor in an accent dress. Whether it’s a different color in the same color scheme or just a completely different style from the rest, highlighting your MOH is a great way to set her apart from the others. After all, she’s the one by your side throughout your entire wedding journey!

If you’re allowing the girls to pick their own dresses, be sure to designate a specific color scheme, fabric and length. This works especially if you are going with the same color for each girl, just a different style. Remember, a charcoal gray in taffeta looks completely different than a charcoal gray in chiffon. Likewise, if three out of five ladies have a floor length gown, one is in tea-length and another in cocktail, things can start looking unpolished.

Bridesmaids dresses are a great expense, but if they are chosen properly with each girl in mind, your ladies will be able to wear their dresses for other occasions, instead of saying “I can always shorten it and wear it again” (we all know that no one actually gets around to it).

Be sure to do your research and try it out. It will definitely pay off with these tips in mind J
